Applications of artificial intelligence.

Hello guys, previously we talked about a few things on Artificial Intelligence. Which was basically an introduction. Here we’ll be looking at a few applications of this cool advancing technology of Artificial Intelligence.

Artificial Intelligence are used and can be used in various ways, practically even used in almost anyway, for example

  1. Object Detection.

Some devices are made to detect changes in their environment. After this is done, they are made to carry out specific tasks as a result of these changes in their surroundings. We’ve seen movies where security cameras are placed in buildings to detect if someone is trying to come in or out of the buildings and all of a sudden, the alarm is sounded. Cars that could actually drive themselves without colliding with objects, although this self-driving tech is in serious advancement and in some countries have actually been in use but the truth is “these technologies do exist” in our world today.

  2. Speech Recognition.

Robots or Machines in general are designed to recognize the voices of their masters or owners. Even recognizing various individual voices and limit what individuals can do with them(robots) to certain things. For example, a robot can only open a safe or underground vault in a house only if the voice is that of the owner. Just like having a super user or root user in a linux sever or a super admin of a website or blog.

  3. Face Recognition.

    This is basically synonymous to the speech recognition except that this is facial, and it(robot / device) uses the face to recognize individuals without mistaken a twin for another;

  4. Gaming.

    credit : thenextweb

This is probably the coolest and weirdest part of Artificial Intelligence. Robots are designed to play mind and logical games with humans. And possibly even impossible for a human to beat. A popular example is the AlphaGo game which was organized by the famous web search engine and developers of the open source android operating system GOOGLE. P.S (The Robot actually won the game!)
The Go game is : A Chinese originated game where Two players take turns placing white or black stones on a 19-by-19 grid. Which is drawn with lines over a wooden board. Stones are placed at the intersection of any two lines. Players claim territory when their stones completely surround and capture their opponent’s stones. When there are no more moves to make, the player who controls more of the board is the winner. Robots are designed to learn on their own, so at some point, they only need maintenance and upgrade.

Another example is the iron man’s robot character, it may seem fake or unreal but technology as it advances comes with a lot of surprises. Other aspects where this technology are also used are : Image Processing, Diagnosis (either in physics or medicine etc), Computer Gaming, Security Systems, and a host of others, Practically used anywhere! :-).

Most of us already have ATM ( Automated Teller Machine ) cards which we use to withdraw from ATM machines and perform online transactions.
androclinic.blogspot.com atm
Imagine withdrawing cash from the ATM without ever touching the machine?
Customers at U.K. bank Barclays will soon be able to do just that using contactless mobile technology.
After downloading the Barclays app, users will type in the amount they want and their banking pin,
a 30-second countdown then starts.
When you get to the ATM, all you have to do is tap your phone or card on the machine and grab your cash.
U.K. customers can expect to begin using this service in the new year and if it’s successful, it just might come to the U.S.

Many of us have heard that from January 2017, Whatsapp® would not be supported on all blackberry devices, including the BB10 devices like Z10, Q10, Blackberry Passport and Blackberry Leap, and some little Java mobiles.
This was their report in the support section of the new version of whatsapp on bb:
WhatsApp support for mobile devices
As announced in our blog, we will soon be ending support for certain devices. On June 30, 2017, we will no longer support the following platforms:
BlackBerry OS and BlackBerry 10Nokia S40Nokia Symbian S60
The following platforms will no longer be supported at the beginning of 2017:
Android 2.1 and Android 2.2Windows Phone 7iPhone 3GS/iOS 6
These platforms don’t offer the kind of capabilities we need to expand our app’s features in the future. If you use one of these affected mobile devices, we recommend upgrading to a newer Android running OS 2.3+, a Windows Phone 8+, or an iPhone running iOS 7+ before the end of 2016 to continue using WhatsApp
Many blackberry users have gone ahead to sell theirs and so many are planning to sell theirs as soon as possible
I guess this is a bit of a consolation as this shutdown has been extended to June 30, 2017… 😁..
It should go without saying, this will certainly make some folks happy. The new update for the BlackBerry 10 version is available through BlackBerry World right now but keep in mind, it’s a re-setting of the time-bomb built into the app, which will now no longer go off at the end of 2016.
A new update from the blackberry world would make yours last till ending of June  next year.

Thanks to their ease of use, affordable price tags, and great performance, Chromebooks are becoming more popular, especially in the education sector, where they are currently being used by 20million students.

In 2015, over 5 million of them were shipped out to consumers and according to the recent study, their sales are expected to exceed 17million units by 2023. One of the reasons for their increased popularity is that back in May, Google announced that android apps are coming to chromebooks. With a lid encased in slim-but-strong slices of Corning® Gorilla® Glass 3 the R13 is tough yet beautiful. What’s more, Corning’s antireflective and easy-to-clean glass coating reduces screen glare while improving contrast and being very easy to clean..This will obviously make the devices, which are already outselling Macbooks, even more in demand.
After the announcement, we saw quite a few Chromebooks hit the market. One of them was Acer’s R-13 that first saw the light of day back at IFA 2016. The device recently started shipping out to consumers but surprisingly without support for Android apps. The R13 joins Chromebook Pixel 2015, Acer Chromebook R11 and Asus Chromebook Flip in the select club of Chrome OS devices that can run Android applications.
Below are screenshots of this amazing device from Acer’sofficial website:

For those of you who already own the device and want to check out the new feature first hand, simply go to Settings > About Chrome OS > More Info > Change Channel > Beta. Wait a few minutes for the update to be downloaded, restart your device, and you’re done. All that’s left is for you to test drive the new feature and have some fun in the process. Enjoy!

A lot of people are still confused on which Tecno phone supports 4G LTE network and which band the 4G works so i compiled this list to address that.
Tecno is one of the most popular smartphone brands in Asia and Africa especially Nigeria and Kenya hence the need to be aware of the particular devices that support 4G network which is the trending feature any latest smartphone must have right now. So take a look at the devices below:

✔ Tecno Camon C5: Band 3/7/20
✔ Tecno Phantom 5: Band 3/7/20
✔ Tecno Boom J8 : Band 3/7/20
✔ Tecno Camon c9 : Band 3/7/20

1. Download MTK Engineering Mode from Google Play store or search for it on Google
2. Install the app
3. Tap “MTK Settings”
4. Tap “Band Mode”
5. Select your SIM
You will see a list of band mode, from GSM to LTE,
If you cannot tick the band 28 check box, then it means Glo 4G LTE service won’t work on it.
If you cannot tick the band 3 check box, then it means Etisalat 4G LTE service won’t work on it.
If you are not able tick band 20 or 7 check box, then you can’t use MTN 4G LTE service. If you use Ntel and you can’t tick band 8 or band 3, then your smartphone has no support for Ntel network

Once you have done this and confirm that your phone supports any of the network 4G LTE bands, simply visit the network office closer to you to request for 4G SIM swap. But if you are using Etisalat, no need for Swapping SIM as Etisalat had already fixed that. You can use your regular SIM card to enjoy the 4G services from Etisalat.

The manufacturer is trying to make up for the disaster, but the consumers are fed up with this year’s flagship because it’s simply not safe to use, and now they are looking forward to see the Galaxy S8 get launched in the first quarter of next year. The Galaxy S8 can wash the company’s image and the execs’ hopes are based on this. We’ve seen a few rumors regarding the upcoming device and if they are accurate, the smartphone looks pretty promising.

(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});

ccording to a leaker who posted a spreadsheet on Weibo, the Galaxy S8 edge will have a 5.5-inch 4K Super AMOLED display — that’s 3840 x 2160 resolution and 506 ppi pixel density). Samsung is also putting a lot of work into curved screens, and a recent comment from Samsung Mobile President Dong-jin Koh claimed: “Samsung has considered that it would make the edge display the identity of the Galaxy S smartphone lineup.” Interestingly, the screen will supposedly account for 80% of the front side of the handset, which seems to imply that Samsung is going to ditch the home button next year.
The battery isnt mentioned.Furthermore, the phone is said to have either a Qualcomm Snapdragon 830 processor or an Exynos 8895 chip, which means in either case will will sport a 10nm chipset. Finally, the leaker says the phone will have either 6GB or 8GB of RAM, which is impressiveNo matter how exciting all that sounds, this is still just a rumor so treat it accordingly.

After all, there’s no telling how the Galaxy Note 7 mess will affect Galaxy S8 production, especially given that the phone is expected to introduce a brand new design.

This phone is expected to be around $850 and £775

For the past 60 years,
helicopters have provided essential vertical takeoff and landing (VTOL)
capabilities–omnidirectional maneuverability, hovering, landing on almost any
flat surface–for countless military operations.design.

VTOL experimental plane, or VTOL X-Plane, program seeks to overcome these
challenges through innovative cross-pollination between the fixed-wing and
rotary-wing worlds, with the goal of fostering radical improvements in VTOL
It takes off vertically, relying on two-dozen fans to soar over the
countryside and change directions quickly. It uses generators to boost
power, creating what is said to be an unusually efficient design. And it
can fly up to 460 mph, faster than the MV-22 Osprey, another rotary
aircraft that the U.S. military now touts for being faster than
conventional helicopters.
It’s called LightningStrike, and the
Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency just unveiled video of how it
could someday work in combat. The agency selected the unmanned
aircraft’s design for the second phase of its unmanned Vertical Takeoff
and Landing Experimental X-Plane (VTOL X-Plane) program.DARPA and the contractors want to begin testing the flight demonstrator aircraft in 2018, they said. Rather than tweaking past designs and technologies, VTOL X-Plane
challenges industry and innovative engineers to create a single hybrid
aircraft that would concurrently push the envelope in four areas:

  • Speed: Achieve a top sustained flight speed of 300 kt-400 kt
  • Hover efficiency: Raise hover efficiency from 60 percent to at least 75
  • Cruise efficiency: Present a more favorable cruise
lift-to-drag ratio of at least 10, up from 5-6
  • Useful load capacity:
Maintain the ability to perform useful work by carrying a useful load of at
least 40 percent of the vehicle’s projected gross weight of 10,000-12,000
pounds.   The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) has helped develop a lot of wondrous technology over the years, including most notably the Internet.“This is an extremely novel approach,” said DARPA program manager Ashish
Bagai. “It will be very challenging to demonstrate, but it has the
potential to move the technology needle the farthest and provide some of
the greatest spinoff opportunities for other vertical flight and
    aviation products.”
