Innovation seems to be limitless and full of  endless possibilities. This is why every year, tech enthusiasts are looking forward to that new ‘it’ gadget that can revolutionize the market with its new design, specs and features.

Now that we are on the last day of the year 2017, the market is yet gearing up for new announcements and innovations that will begin to come out on the tech market next year – 2018.Cool gadgets to Expect in 2018

Of course, almost everyone is already expecting the iPhone X to be the most sought after gadget by next year, but the model has since been plagued with durability issues since the moment of its reveal. Despite that, Apple enthusiasts are still excited to get their hands on the new iPhone X – which will be available starting this month in limited supply.Apple 2018‌But the tech market does not just revolve on Apple or the iPhone X, there are more players in the industry that have good stuff coming in 2018. Below are just three of the coolest gadgets that are expected to be announced or released by 2018:

1. Google Pixel Buds

It seems that Google has come up with its own line of wireless earbuds to rival Apple’s AirPods. This is news that should get Android users and loyalists rejoicing, since Google’s Pixel Buds is expected to be compatible with every Android smartphone.Google pixel buds

Like AirPods, the Pixel Buds is also expected to be integrated with Google’s own assistant (like how Siri is integrated with the AirPods), and users can also listen to music, make calls and set schedules through it. It is also rumored that the Pixel Buds will be equipped with a real-time translator that is capable of translating over 40 languages.

What Else to Expect in 2018

Aside from their Pixel Buds, Google still has a lot in store for the market this coming 2018. One of those is the new Pixel 2 model which is already announced last month. The new smartphone is said to be equipped with an improved artificial intelligence (AI) feature, and with a better camera that can top Apple’s iPhone camera quality.Google ai

Another Google gadget that is set for release on 2018 is the Google Home Max. This seems to be yet another gadget that is innovated to rival another Apple product – the HomePod. Like the HomePod, Google Home Max is a wi-fi connected smart speaker that can play quality music and equipped to work with Google Assistant and Chromecast. Both the Google Home Max and the new HomePod are set to be released next month to jumpstart the holiday season – and it will then be widely available by the start of 2018.Google home max

Samsung Galaxy S9

It seems that Samsung has redeemed itself from all that battery-exploding fiasco with its success of the Samsung Galaxy S8 this year. As of the moment, tech enthusiasts are predicting that the leading smartphone manufacturer won’t just sit idly while its biggest competitor (Apple) is about to release the iPhone X worldwide. And with Google’s upcoming Pixel 2, it is expected that Samsung will come up with even edgier and more competitive functions for its new smartphone model.

happy new year to my wonderful readers!

Eventually, the company will announce a new Samsung Galaxy line by 2018, but as to what its specs and features will be, the market is left to theorize until official announcements are made.

Oculus Go

The Oculus Rift might not have been successful on making itself as a household name, but Oculus Go is geared to achieve just that. Aiming to put virtual reality (VR) entertainment on a mainstream level, the Oculus Go is priced at a more affordable rate to begin with (said to be introduced at $199), and it will be more compact and user-friendly compared to the Oculus Rift. Oculus goUsers won’t be needing a smartphone or PC to enjoy Oculus Go, it will be a lightweight VR device that can be easily used without wires attached.

For Apple fans, the iPhone X is already ready for the market. However, the leading tech company does not stop at that. Apple will also release a new version of its health and fitness tracker, the Apple Watch Series 3. Like the iPhone X, it is expected to be available by the holidays and will become widely sold by the start of 2018.Apple watch 3

A feature that is added onto the Apple Watch Series 3 is the ability to get calls, listen to music, receive notifications and talk to Siri via LTE technology. This means that users won’t be needing to have their iPhones nearby in order to do these activities.

Although Apple seems to be leading in the smartwatch market, it still finds a possible competitor with FitBit’s upcoming Ionic line of smartwatches. Like the Apple Watch, FitBit is a known health and fitness tracker brand, and it seems that they are trying to up the smartwatch game in 2018 by having the FitBit Ionic poised as the ultimate smartwatch – making it compatible with third-party apps and comes equipped with a battery power that can last for over 5 days.

These are just some of the gadgets that the market should watch for in 2018. If anyone noticed, these are mostly products from the main players of the tech industry – Apple, Samsung and Google. It should not also be forgotten that some giants such as Amazon and Sony, or even up and coming competitive companies such as the Chinese brand, Xiaomi (the company responsible for FitBit), would come up with their own new line of gadgets that will revolutionize entertainment and communication in 2018 and beyond.

Again, the possibilities when it comes to innovation is limitless. The market should also take into consideration new apps that might change the way we live in the next year or so. Some recent examples of this would be Grab, Uber, Food Panda and Spotify. Up and coming apps are also expected to utilize augmented reality (AR) more, and not just in gaming such as how Niantic’s Pokemon Go worked, but also in navigation, advertising and shopping activities by the next five years or so.

In previous times, Google Chromebooks are designed to be relatively low-cost laptops that make you easily get things done in comfort and do basic stuffs almost every other laptop can, but Google wants the Chromebook to be more than that. As we know, there is already a list of many 2-in-1 laptops (revertible) to choose from (another example of a revertible laptop is the Dell Xps 13 , which is why Google unveiled its new $999 Google Pixelbook in San Francisco not long ago.

Google Pixelbook

Samsung and Asus have been introducing higher-end models of Chromebooks that creep up into the $500 costprice range, but don’t have the power or flexibility of a proper Windows or Mac laptop. According to Cameron Faulkner from Techradar,

“….Google has enabled Android app support on select Chromebook models. But, the Pixelbook is the first Chrome OS device released with more than enough built-in storage to actually realize the dream of installing any Android app that you desire.”

The Pixelbook itself is stunning. It’s an incredibly well-built, thin, and beautiful laptop that you can convert into a tablet by flipping the screen over. In this top-tier camp, Chromebooks aren’t judged solely on their power and looks. Instead, they’re judged on a different question: is it really worth spending over a thousand bucks on a Chrome OS device; cos they are quite expensive, and this isn’t a good marketing habit Google should consider keeping. Available for pre-order starting Oct. 4, the Pixelbook is a laptop-tablet hybrid, sporting a foldable 12.3-inch, 2,400 x 1,600 resolution touch screen display.

We dont see a bug logo that is very conspicuous (like in he case of hp and Dell laptops), but instead, the only notable exterior design feature that tells you ‘Hey, this is a Google device’ is the little G in the top corner of its lid.

Inside, the Google Pixelbook continues the two-tone coloring (just like the Pixel phones). The lower portion of the keyboard deck where you rest your hands is a nice white color you have, while the rest of the area is a having a subtle grey color.Google pixelbook chromebookGoogle pixelbook chromebook Google had also added soft-touch material to the keyboard’s palm rest to make it more comfortable and easier to type on. But, there is something that is very likely:

The white deck is going to pick up some dirt and dark spots the more often you use it, so you cant use this device when eating a snack.

Goole pixelbook stain

Google Pixelbook is made of aluminum, but with some striking, symmetrical design flourishes. The most obvious is that the glass shade is on the back of the screen where the Wi-Fi antenna sits. It mirrors the glass shade on the Pixel phones, but it also mirrors the Pixelbook’s other major design element: the “advanced silicone” pads on the keyboard deck that surround a glass trackpad.

Those pads serve multiple purposes: they’re more comfortable to rest your palms on than aluminum, they add a small gap to protect the screen from getting schmuckle from the keyboard on it, and they serve as anti-skid feet when you have the Pixelbook flipped around!

Around the laptop, we see a USB-C port on each side and a 3.5mm headphone jack on its left. The controls for power and volume sit along the left-hand side as well. Borrowed from the company’s smartphone lineup, the Google Pixelbook features a mixture of glass and aluminum. Glass on the exterior of a laptop is definitely a bit worrying, especially given its high price. (Most of us have device-handling-issues), so how can I buy a laptop whose “outside” is a glass surface?

Pictures of The Google Pixelbook

The Google Pixelbook Pen

Interestingly, Google has also developed a stylus specifically for the Pixelbook called, appropriately, the Pixelbook Pen, priced at a hefty $99 (That is almost 36,000 Nigerian Naira!). But some people would still say:

Performance And speed

Again, the Google Pixelbook starts at 8GB of RAM and features a 7th generation Intel i5 processor. Google had said that if you paid an extra $650, you will get a big upgrade not just in processing speed (you’ll get an i7, though the specifics of the CPU weren’t stated), you will also nab a total of 16GB of RAM and 512GB of on-board storage.

I’m not quite sure who would need that kind of power in a Chromebook, and spending $1,649 on a device that can’t run full programs seems a bit excessive.

Which cuts to the biggest issue with such an expensive Chromebook. It simply can’t run the kind of heavy-duty software that a Mac or PC can. Instead, you can only run apps built for Android and Chrome OS. And for most consumers that’s probably enough.

In the end,

what you’re paying for is the Pixelbook’s fantastic design.

After the release of the super affordable Redmi 4A, Xiaomi Redmi 5A  was launched yesterday afternoon in China. Featuring a 5-inch display and a Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 processor, the new Redmi 5A brings some good features at a very low price.

Click here to see my review of the Xiaomi redmi note 4.

The new Redmi 5A has a metal-like matte texture that, according to Xiaomi, is “much lighter than the metal.” For those curious, the handset weighs 137 grams. Another highlight of the Redmi 5A is its battery, which the company says will deliver eight days of juice. Like its predecessor, the MIUI 9-based smartphones does not have a fingerprint sensor (sadly), but sports some design changes, such as rounded corners for a comfortable grip.

Xiaomi Redmi 5A Specifications

In terms of its specifications, the Xaiaomi Redmi 5A doesn’t bring too-special upgrades when compared to the Redmi 4A. The Redmi 5A features a 5-inch HD (720×1280 pixels) display with a pixel density of 296ppi. Like the Xiaomi Redmi 4A, the successor is also powered by the quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 SoC, clocked at 1.4GHz, and coupled with 2GB of RAM. It comes with a 16GB inbuilt storage which is further expandable via microSD card (up to 128GB). The dual-SIM Xiaomi Redmi 5A packs a 3000mAh battery which seems to be a downgrade when compared to the Redmi 4A.

Secret: this phone would run on MIUI9

The new MIUI 9 features include Smart assistant, Smart app launcher, Image search, Quick reply and notification management, new Home screen enhancements, Lock screen enhancements, and split screen multitasking among others.

I would soon be changing my phone from the Infinix Hot 4 Pro due to the problems I encountered- Infinix Hot 4 Pro Nougat Update problem and Infinix Hot 4 Pro without IR scanner; and I was searching all around till I made some reasonable conclusions concerning my dream phone:

  • I didn’t want a samsung phone, cos the screen replacements for a good samsung phone costs a fortune
  • I didn’t want a Gionee phone, because the screen was too fragile and gionee isn’t light.
  • I didn’t want a Htc phone because of battery issues
  • I didn’t want a tecno phone, cos I do not like the graphics
  • I didn’t want infinix anymore, cos they did not do important things I suggested to make them make it in Nigeria
  • I couldn’t buy a nokia phone, cos I was simply unattracted
  • And i cant use a spedtrum phone (like Itel, blu, etc for personal reasons).

So, I searched everywhere on the Nigerian market but I was seeing the above named phones reappearing and as usual, guess what?

I love being different. So I headed on to Amazon to probably Import my phone (which I would do before Christmas) and I saw the Xiaomi Redmi Note 4!

My Dad received a notification of an upgrade on his ipad last week and he was excited at the features the ios 11 promised to have. But he had to ask me if it was a wise decision to upgrade and I decided to look into the Ios 11 deeply. Here’s what is funny: Within about a minute of Apple’s iOS 11 release, it was already installed on more devices than Android Oreo. But that’s neither here nor there. iOS 11 is packed full of new features, refinements of existing features, bug fixes, and plenty more for iPhone and iPad users to enjoy. It’s not all good news, and before the end of the post, you’ll see why.

Wonderful Features In Ios11

When I went through various articles that explained the ios 11 upgrade features, I was so excited! Android might be better then Ios, fhough. Although,

  • Some features will be available on September 19, 2017, with iOS 11.

Amount of storage saved depends on specific photo content used; actual results may vary.

  1. Requires an Apple Music membership.
  2. AirPlay is compatible with the second-generation Apple TV or later. AirPlay Mirroring is available with iPhone 4s or later, iPad Pro, iPad (2nd generation or later), iPad Air or later, iPad mini or later, and iPod touch (5th generation or later). AirPlay 2 may require a software update to existing speakers or new hardware depending on speaker manufacturer.
  • Some features, applications, and services may not be available in all regions or all languages.

Ios 11 bugs and fixes

Here are most of the features of ios 11 that you would also find wonderful!

1. Design:

Text is bolder, apps like Calculator and Phone have a new look, and the Lock screen and Control Center have been entirely redesigned.  Your apps now have big headers that make them easier to get a better sense of what you’re looking at, so they work better on larger screens. Like any design change, the differences in iOS 11 are polarizing, but I generally like it better than before. Apple made a huge shift way back in iOS 7, but with iOS 11 it feels like everything’s been a little bit softened. iOS 11 lets you customize the redesigned Control Center so you can change the settings for the things you do most. Ios 11 design

2. QuickType keyboard.

Holding a coffee in one hand and your iPhone in the other? Simply touch and hold the emoji or globe key, select one-handed typing, and the keys will instantly move closer to your thumb. This makes you to type with one hand tied behind your back, Looking like the Google Keyboard feature in Android, as seen in the video below. Also, Letters, numbers, symbols, and punctuation marks are now all on the same keyboard.

Here’s how it is on the ios 11:Ios 11 one hand mode

3. Hotknot For Ios?

I know, yeah. Hotknot was a feature released for some android phones sometimes ago, but for unknown reasons, the feature was discontinued. Now, it has come to the ios11 right in front of us! What is this feature all about? Here is it:

Just hold your new iPhone or iPad near an iOS device to sign in with your Apple ID automatically. Many of your personal settings, preferences, and content will be quickly and securely imported.

What a wawu!

3. Homekit and do-not-disturb

HomeKit now supports speakers and there’s a new AirPlay 2 protocol that includes multi-room functionality. Do Not Disturb has been expanded to encompass driving, muting notifications while a vehicle is in motion, and Messages has been improved with a new App Drawer that makes it easier to access Messages apps and stickers. Now ,your ipad or iPhone on Ios 11 can now sense when you might be driving and help keep you from being distracted by calls, text messages, and notifications.

4. App store Revamping

The App Store has been completely refurbished in the iOS 11 upgrade, and there are now two distinct sections for apps and games. There’s also a new “Today” view that features new content on a daily basis to make it easier for you to discover new applications and games. Apps can do a whole lot more, thanks to several new APIs Apple is introducing! It’s the biggest thing to come to the App Store since apps. Users are notified when their favorite apps gain new features.

5. Drag And Drop

Drag and Drop comes to iPad, allowing you to move text, photos, and files from one app to another. And because it’s been specially made for the large Multi-Touch display of iPad, moving them around is pure magic. You can touch and move just about anything on the screen of your ios 11 enabled device! A tap and a hold with a finger initiates a drag action, while another finger can be used to bring up the Dock or access the Home screen to open up another app where the item being dragged can be dropped.

6. Settings:

In the Settings app, there’s a section for choosing which features you want to be able to access in the Control Center, and there are quite a few options available. Low Power Mode can be added to the Control Center, for example, and there’s even an option to add an Apple TV remote.

  • Flashlight
  • Timer
  • Calculator
  • Camera
  • Accessibility Shortcut
  • Alarm
  • Apple TV Remote
  • Do Not Disturb While Driving
  • Guided Access
  • Home
  • Low Power Mode
  • Magnifier
  • Notes
  • Screen Recording
  • Stopwatch
  • Text Size
  • Voice Memos
  • Wallet

You can add all of the options to Control Center if you want, or just what’s most relevant to your usage habits.

7. Files App

There is no iCloud Drive app in iOS 11, because it’s been expanded into a more comprehensive “Files” app that’s designed to mimic the Finder app on the Mac.

Like Finder for Mac, it’s searchable, has a section for viewing all recently accessed files, and it supports tags, spring-loading, nested folders, and favorites. Adding a tag to a file for organizational purposes is as simple as dragging the file to the tag color of your choice.

8. Siri is Better

Siri isn’t perfect, but it is much more capable than many give it credit for. Which is another way of saying: give it another shot, you might be surprised.

This big update you’ll notice right away is that Apple has tuned Siri so that its voice sounds much more natural and less computer-like. You might want to give siri another try!

Ios 11 Problems (Bugs)

Each and every software update on any platform causes issues for some people, and right now 59 be honest, the Ios 11 is not an exception- And the problems are not cool.

First things first: when you first install any iOS update on your iPhone, iOS 11 included, your phone may slow down and you may experience faster battery drain at first- but why?

Should in case you are experiencing battery drain, you may want to head on to (Settings > General > Background App Refresh) and limiting the number of apps that can access your location in the background (Settings > Privacy > Location Services). If that doesn’t have much of an impact, Low Power Mode may become your best friend until Apple pushes out new updates in the coming months that will hopefully address excessive battery drain.

Note: If you haven’t started the iOS 11 update and are going to try, the first thing you should do is create a backup of your iPhone. Things can go wrong during major software updates, and having a recent backup available can save you from a massive headache if anything bad happens.

1. Can’t connect to a Wi-Fi network

One user has reported that their iPhone no longer allows them to join their personal Wi-Fi network, and they probably won’t be alone in this. Some preliminary steps to try resolving this issue would be to reset your phone, reset the Wi-Fi router (even if other devices are clearly connected to the internet through it) or forget the Wi-Fi network on your device and rejoin. You can also attempt to reset the network settings of your device by going to Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings – don’t worry, this fix shouldn’t erase anything on your phone. However, the user who posted this issue tried many of these fixes to no success, so it may be a case of reverting back to iOS 10 and waiting for a fix to come from Apple.

2. Some apps are gone or not working properly

If you’ve been dragging along some old apps from phone to phone for a while now without updating them (either because you don’t update them or because the creator won’t update them) they may not work well with iOS 11. If they’re old enough, or still 32-Bit, they won’t be compatible with iOS 11.

3. Your Phone’s is suddenly filling up its storage

One user has reported that the update to iOS 11 began to slowly increase the system storage on their device until the device was almost full. This error doesn’t appear to be linked to specific apps, but rather just the storage that the system itself takes up. If any apps that you hardly use are draining it like crazy, you might want to disable them until they get more iOS 11-friendly updates.

This is an issue that has cropped up even in the Beta for iOS 11, Unfortunately, there’s no clear resolution for this issue at present, and you may want to revert to your backup and wait for iOS 11.1 if you experience this issue.

4. The Home button is slow to wake up the device

Multiple Apple users have posted that, after updating their old iPhones to iOS 11, their lock screen freezes for around 10 seconds, appearing to stall out or slowly load up before letting them use their device. Nothing could be more tedious than waiting around for 10 seconds just to check a notifications now and then. You may revert to ios 7 if it gets creepy- it is worth it!

5. See how to fix iphone disabled for 24million years!.

As we expect the Samsung S8 and even the Samsung Galaxy S9, there is a phone launched by Samsung that we need to take a look at, so we can decide who is King among the Samsung trio. Although, as at now, the Samsung Galaxy C8 price and availability details have not been officially announced yet- but details would be released soon.Samsung galaxy C8 Launch

Ahead of the launch, The Galaxy C8 is being subjected to several leaks and rumours, which suggested that the phone would come with two cameras at the rear and would feature a facial-recognition security measure. I noticed that the Galaxy C8 is the third samsung smartphone to arrive with a dual camera setup at its rear. The first one is the Galaxy Note 8 and the second one is the Galaxy J7+. Black, Pink and Gold are the three colors of the phone that we should all expect, according to the leaks we have.

Samsung has already announced the Galaxy Note 8 in its home market South Korea. The Note 8 was launched on August 23. It is a high-end phone with premium hardware and features. In India Samsung is expected to launch the Galaxy Note 8 with a price of nearly 60,000 in India.

Ahead of the launch, Samsung is asking people who will like to buy the phone to register themselves at a special website that the company has created for the Galaxy Note 8. People who register now will get the phone early, and there are massive purchase orders already.

The Samsung Galaxy C8 comes with dual camera setup (already said). The primary camera comes with a 13-megapixel sensor which is paired with an f/1.7 aperture lens. Samsung galaxy c8The secondary camera uses a 5-megapixel sensor along with an f/1.9 aperture lens. On the front, the new Samsung Galaxy C8 comes with a 16-megapixel sensor which is further paired with an f/1.9 aperture. The dual-camera system of the Galaxy C8 comes with Dual Photo mode. In other words, similar to what is there inside the Galaxy Note 8, this camera mode lets users adjust the focus of the picture even after capturing the image.

Also, the facial recognition technology added to this wonderful phone allows users to unlock the phone with their face. The Galaxy C8 also comes with a fingerprint scanner which is embedded in the home button at the front, right below the display. The Galaxy C8 also comes with an always-on display. On the connectivity front, the smartphone comes with range of options like — 4G connectivity, Bluetooth 4.2, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, 3.5mm headphone jack, and micro-USB port. The phone also comes with Bixby support. Did I forget to add that the Galaxy C8 houses a 3000mAh battery? no. The battery capacity is 3000mAh.

The latest Infinix phone, the Infinix Hot 5 is starting to gain popularity and Infinix fans are not too happy with a few things I’ll list below. I have written a well organized post on the Infinix Hot 5 here , and many fans, including me, have not been happy for the following reasons in the first instance:

  • It hasn’t been long since Infinix produced two phones- The Infinix S2 , Infinix Smart and Infinix Note 4. Production and release of phones should be widely spaced!
  • The specs of the Infinix Hot 5 do not look amazing as we envisaged.
  • The Hot 5 is likely going to be in three variants- The Hot 5, the Hot 5 Lite, and the Hot 5 pro (infinix new bad marketing technique)
  • The Hot 5 is too similar to the Infinix Hot 4.

Actually, Infinix can be better than Gionee. You may ask how? Click here to see. So, in case you are also disappointed, Infinix may have made a wise decision in making the Infinix Hot 5- I am quite sure you’ll agree with me after this post.

Below are some leaked pictures of the Hot 5;

Well, before I proceed, I had sone expectations from InfinixMobile when I saw their last device, which are;

1. I was expecting a break in phone production, like 5months, so their users won’t be tired of jumping from phone to phone. C’mon, I have been using the Hot 4 pro I bought last year December. Right now, it looks like Im 3 years behind, cos since then, Infinix released the following phones:

  • Infinix Smart
  • Infinix S2
  • Infinix s2 pro
  • Infinix note 4
  • Infinix note 4 pro
  • Now- infinix hot 5??

Sincerely, I’m like:

2. I was expecting another Androidone Infinix phone, since the Hot2 is their only androidone phone.

3. I was expecting a giveaway from Infinix- It’s long overdue

4. It wont have been bad if Infinix thought of adding band 28 Lte to their phones, CMON, YOU CANT USE GLO 4G WIH ANY INFINIX PHONE- NOW THAT’S SHIT!

Now, I think the Hot 5 isnt a bad idea, because of the following:

The Good Parts of Infinix Hot 5 (5 Reasons to buy)

  1.  Strong 4000mAh battery:

4000mAh high capacity battery combined with the energy-efficient XOS, provides at least 2 days usage for an average user. When going on a long trip, you can be rest assured that your device would last you well through the day and into the next. You dont have to worry about getting a power bank if you are an average user!

2. Fingerprint Smart Key Security; Convenient, Hassle Free

Scan your fingerprint to experience the convenience of secure ID access. The smart Fingerprint key eliminates complicated passwords and provides secure unlocking, wakes dormant apps, and enables privacy control in various other applications.

3. Diamond cutting edge design

A rigid structure has been combined with colorful 3D Texture to encapsulate youthfulness, beauty, and personalized aesthetics.
4. Cos its on Android 7.0 and the newly release Xos 2.2. XOS is an Infinix exclusive customized operating system based on Android N. Providing an excellent interactive experience with innovative features such as custom themes, Multi Account, and Freezer. XOS will personalize your mobile experience for you while also decreasing power consumption.
5. It has a soft flashlight that protects your eyes and boasts of a sharp camera.

Pricing of Infinix Hot 5

According to one of my sources working in Infinixmobility, the Hot 5 costs about 37,500naira which is equivalent to 105.49USD! That’s affordable and its reason number 6. What do you think?
